Multiplication Tables from 1 to 10

Tips to memorize the tables

👋 The 9 times table with your fingers

Hold up all 10 fingers. To calculate 9 × 7, fold down the 7th finger. To the left of the folded finger: 6 fingers (tens). To the right: 3 fingers (ones). Answer: 63. This works for the entire 9 times table!

🔀 Commutativity cuts the work in half

If you know 3 × 7 = 21, you also know 7 × 3 = 21. So out of the 100 multiplications (1×1 to 10×10), you only really need to learn 55. And if you remove the 1, 2, 5, and 10 times tables (easy ones), only about thirty remain.

✖️ The 5 times table: always ends in 0 or 5

Even number × 5 = ends in 0 (4×5=20, 6×5=30). Odd number × 5 = ends in 5 (3×5=15, 7×5=35). Quick trick: divide the number by 2 and multiply by 10. Example: 8×5 → 8÷2=4 → 40.

💪 Perfect squares to know by heart

These results come up all the time: 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100. These are the squares of 2 through 10. If you know them by heart, half the tables become easy.

🎯 The 6 "tricky" multiplications

The truly hard ones are few: 6×7=42, 6×8=48, 7×8=56, 6×9=54, 7×9=63, 8×9=72. Six results to remember, that's it. The rest, you already know.

🧠 The 11 times table as a bonus

Up to 9, it's simple: just double the digit. 11×3=33, 11×7=77. For 11×10=110 and beyond, add the two digits and place the result in the middle: 11×12 → 1(1+2)2 = 132.
